As regular readers of our blogs will know, we’re huge advocates of the importance of employee wellbeing and the positive impact this has on performance at work.

You’ll also be very familiar with one of our Director’s running exploits and he’s at it again this year, this time having persuaded another member of the team to join him!

In September 2024, Adam will be completing his 20th Great North Run, the world’s leading half marathon, once again raising vital funds for St Barnabas Hospice. Having only missed one GNR (due to injury in 2011) this will be a real milestone in his running passion.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s persuaded Dean to join him in this year’s Manchester Marathon, which is being held on 14th April.

Adam commented:

I recall from training for the London Marathon in 2018 what a significant step up it is compared with training for a half marathon,  but I’m (mostly) enjoying it and really looking forward to participating in the event itself.  It’s great to be able to share the experience with Dean, if only to compare how sore our legs are after a long run at the weekend!

Dean added:

Having progressed from a novice runner to one preparing to complete a marathon in such a short space of time is really exciting.  This will be an incredible test of endurance and willpower, but if it was easy, then I guess more than 0.01% of the world’s population would have completed one!

Adam has once again set-up his Just Giving page to use his running as an opportunity to raise funds for St Barnabas Hospice

St Barnabas Hospice delivers free, high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care and support to more than 9,000 adults with a life-limiting or terminal illness, and their family and carers. They aim to enable them to live as fully as they are able for however many days, weeks or months they have left.

The charity has lost millions of pounds since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, so Adam’s fundraising takes on even more significance as the charity’s recovery continues.
